I spent 40 minutes in character creation, learning how the sculpting system works and creating that perfect character. When I had finished my character and gotten into the actual game (the starting vault), I noticed the FPS was horrendous, so I changed some video settings to make it easier on my PC. It said I had to restart the game for the changes to take effect, so I did.
When I booted up the game again, there was no trace of the character I had created. I did some research and it turns out you have to leave the starting vault for your character to be saved. That's a bit annoying, I thought to myself, but alright, I guess I'll just have to create a new one. So I did.
This time around I managed to create a character a bit faster, as I had grasped the sculpting system more, but also found some features that I had missed the first time around. After 30 minutes, I felt like I was done and ready to go. So I name my character, he wakes up in the starting vault, gets out of his bed and stands up. That's when I see it. Something I must have missed the first time. An acoustic guitar on the floor. I thought "Oh neat, it even says I can play it if I press E". Tempted by the desire to hear some sweet tunes, I press E. That's when I realized my mistake. This simple interaction causes the game to crash and close instantly.
Fuck. I never had time to leave the starting vault so my character would save. Now he's gone. Again.
I think that's enough Fallout 76 for me for now. Maybe I'll actually get to play the game someday.
