My issue is the ridiculous racism in a settlers-lite themed factory game! It was a kind of okay sort of boring game in beginning (it took me 20 hours to get through the awfully written tutorial). But then you get to a real campaign mission and there's natives? Like who says that? It's not even a historical game like Anno where maaaybe I'd let it go. But no there's a full-on native/settler thing that is seriously cringey. I don't want to play it and I can't believe I wasted this much time trying to understand it.
Let me ammend my review to address what Thomas has said in his response....inlcuding part of the text from my request for a refund....
"Hi! I've requested a refund of this prior and was denied and I think if you reread the text of that message I think you'll understand what I was trying to say....sure the gameplay isn't the best...but what I object to is the racist imperialist notion that you colonise an island with an existing population that it is your role to inhabit and conform them to your system imposed on the island. This is historically offensive on so many levels, and I've NEVER seen a similar game such as ubisoft's anno series do this in this way without some HEAVY contexualisation of the what was happening. Make no mistake....this is a HEAVY presentation of imperialist practices that is present with zero context explain what is happening. It's not ok. It's not ok for children to play again where this idea is even passively presented.
The developer has responded to me in my review stating this and said they've changed the wording. The WORDING is not the problem. The problem is that this imperialist, racist, seperate but equal practice is employed and normalised as part of the core game loop. This is unnacceptable."
You need to understand that it is NOT OK to represent this without explanation or context. You have STRUCTURALLY in your game created an imperialist colonial structure which is by nature inherently racist. You can NOT present a situation in which a group of people arrive and take over an inhabited island, and subject the indigenous people of that island with the structure of the colonisers and have it play it out OK. It's not possible.....ESPECIALLY as you've done which is do play it out as a pure mechanic. This is actually EVEN WORSE.
If you want to fix your game....changing the wording is not the way, you must remove this mechanic.
Thanks for you attention.

It is a logistic game but with very unsatisfying problem to solve: ever growing pile of items stuck on intersection. I guess C:Skylines players will love it.

I want to start out saying this game is exactly what it says it is, from what I played it didn't seem buggy or anything like that, I just... didn't have fun playing it.
The majority of the time spent playing the game I felt like I was either fighting the road system to get something to work the way I wanted it to (the end point of the road seemed to be what was relevant I figured out), or waiting for the city to progress so I could do the next tier of the same thing. I had it at 3x speed almost constantly and the game still felt slow. I feel like the game needed to be more engaging than watching "resources" move across road lines.
Still if you think it looks fun you might give it a try, it wasn't for me but I'm sure there are people out there that will enjoy this.

I like it a lot so far! I haven't been able to put much time into this yet, but it's quite a relaxing experience, so far it's not too difficult.

Way too many bugs.
* split the road in two and one of them doesn't get a worker, so you have an invisible bottleneck
* house requests a resource, but it actually is never requested, the icon just hangs there forever and despite no bottlenecks anywhere on a map there is never resource send
* resources/works get stuck on nodes and stop moving
* finish objectives of a mission, but nothing happens (you have to manually quit to main menu)
I get some bugs, but there are WAY too many for this to have been released. To me early access is mostly about unfinished features, not a buggy game.

I love factory games. But the UI and keybindings for this are so non-intuitive that I ended up requesting a refund without even finishing the tutorial.
An example of non-intuitiveness is that you build a road, but you don't have vehicles that use it. Instead you have a transporter that runs back and forth on that stretch, handing it off to the next transporter, and so on. This concept can be seen in the marketing video around 18 seconds in, but is tricky to spot unless you know what you are looking for, hence this explanation.

Mini Settlers by Knight Owl Games is a delightful surprise in the city-building genre. Its minimalist aesthetic belies the depth and complexity of its gameplay, offering a rewarding experience for both casual and hardcore players.
The gameplay is simple yet addictive: settle islands, build cities, and manage resources. You start with a small island and a handful of settlers. From there, you construct buildings to harvest resources, produce goods, and accommodate your growing population. The key to success lies in efficient resource management and strategic placement of buildings.
One of Mini Settlers' greatest strengths is its focus on logistics. Building roads, railways, and ports to connect your various buildings is essential for a thriving civilization. Balancing supply and demand while avoiding traffic congestion is a challenging yet satisfying puzzle. The game encourages experimentation and optimization, rewarding players for finding creative solutions.
The minimalist art style is both charming and functional. The clean, uncluttered interface allows you to focus on the core mechanics without being overwhelmed by visual clutter. The island maps are varied and offer plenty of opportunities for different playstyles. Whether you prefer sprawling metropolises or compact, efficient settlements, Mini Settlers has something to offer.
While the game offers a decent amount of challenge, it never feels frustrating. The learning curve is gradual, allowing players to grasp the core concepts without feeling overwhelmed. Additionally, the game provides helpful tooltips and tutorials to guide new players.
Mini Settlers is a game that keeps you coming back for more. There's always one more island to conquer, one more optimization to make, or one more resource to master. It's a testament to the game's design that it manages to be both relaxing and stimulating at the same time.
In conclusion, Mini Settlers is a hidden gem that deserves a spot in the library of any city-building enthusiast. Its entertaining gameplay, charming visuals, and replayability make it a standout title in a crowded genre. Highly recommended!

Yay, someone listened (not that people ever listen to me!!!). Time limitations are gone and now you can enjoy building and planning to your souls content.
Original :
While I enjoy the game for working on optimising production and supply chains, I do not enjoy it when they tie achievements (in game level target) to time limitations, and even when the game is supposedly paused, its clock is still running. Given the current state of domestic production (being slow and non-existent in most regards), at least the game is capable of something.
