Unfortunately, this is the first time I've been disappointed with a PC port for a Trails game.
For whatever reason, the PC developers have decided to remove MSAA as a general anti-aliasing solution within the game. This graphical option was present in Daybreak 1 and Daybreak 2, with Daybreak 2 being released not even a year ago.
So, what you're left with is FXAA and TAA solutions that have image quality issues and or blurriness. DLSS is an option, but then you're using AI reconstruction and while it generally looks good, there's some pretty wild visual issues when looking in the sky. It's like pieces of the sky / clouds are shaking around or something. Like the reconstruction or whatever it is doesn't like what's on the screen. This doesn't happen with AA turned off and that's what I've decided to use, because the PC developers removed options from the game.
Can't comment on the game itself yet, but the port is a disappointment right now, because the developers decided to remove options that were perfectly fine before. DLSS and these other AA solutions were present a year ago, along with MSAA, but not anymore for whatever reason.
Again, can't comment on the game right now, but I DO NOT recommend any new players join this series. It's not accessible at all because of the massive barrier of entry. Die-hard fans will tell you that you need to play 12+ games that are not cheap, and most of them will run above the 100+ hour mark.
And while I personally don't necessarily agree with the need to play all those games, since some reading and watching videos can get the job done somewhat, I still think anyone already not invested is better off turning around and walking away.
Falcom and NISA are extremely immoral and greedy companies and if you want to see proof of that, just take a look at the pricing of these games and the five (5) different editions that they have for sale. They can get away with it also, because if you're already in too deep with so many games under your belt, what are you going to do? Base edition is appropriately priced, but they'll take you to the cleaners if you want anything beyond that. Paying for extras is fair, but there's fair and there's highway robbery. Falcom greed falls into the latter. Falcom is more to blame here than NISA, in my opinion, but it is what it is. Guilty by association at this point.
All-in-all, it's a low-budget JRPG that can be fun, but very overpriced and with a massive barrier of entry. That is expected. The PC port that is normally great, but is now removing graphic features / settings for whatever reason? Unexpected and quite frankly a big disappointment.
I will alter the review and my opinion on the port if the 'PH3 GmbH' Development team can provide a suitable reason why it was removed or if they add it back into the game, because right now, my experience is being negatively affected.
However, I absolutely DO NOT Recommend these games to anyone who isn't already heavily invested in the franchise. Just turn around and don't look back.
Edit:
Someone on the Steam forum was nice enough to provide a link to the statement by the PC Development team on why the missing graphical setting was removed, and while I'm unhappy with the response I'll have to accept it because that's all I can do.
It did seem like the development head was giving B.S. excuses on why you should never want to use this or that just because they removed it and people complained about it and brought it up.
However, it's pretty ridiculous that the development head couldn't be bothered to provide this information on the Steam Forum, and or include it in their Tech Write-up when the game released. It was found on the cesspool known as Reddit and I would have never saw that information if not for a friendly Steam user.
Thumbs down for the PC Dev Team.

There are good things and bad things about this game, unfortunately the bad outweigh the good at least for me. I'll start with the good first, I really like how you can change from turn based combat to regular combat which is quite unique. I also really liked the special moves which really shine in this game and was the best part for me. As for as that, I couldn't think of anything else that was good. Now for the bad, the one thing I hated the most in this game and never seemed to stop which is how much dialogue there is and doing chores around the city like helping someone that has an issue which doesn't evolve any action. There a lot of parts in this game where there is no audio too. The turn based combat is good but i couldn't say the same for the regular action which is really basic. I bought this game for action not to read and listen to audio the whole time and to go around the city doing pointless tasks for people that don't evolve any action. I couldn't recommend this to someone who is looking for an action game because there is not much here. 70% dialogue 30% action (REFUNDED)

Another excellent port from durante/ph3.
However, NISA has once again vandalised the script, I shouldn't be surprised but it's getting even worse.
Either buy and patch the CLE version or if you're like me and want to support ph3's great work, patch this version and play in Japanese.

It's season 13, if someone want to enter this series start from trails in the sky 1st remake. For niche series it got greatest port in the gaming industry.

Only 7 hours in so this is far from a definitive review, will update later.
This game is building on everything from the previous Daybreak games. You have some new mechanics in combat, particularly in the action combat, to make things even more snappy and dynamic. It even encorporates something like the Brave Orders from Cold Steel3&4 and Reverie. I just feels like there is even more control over combat than ever before.
Visually, the game looks great. I think Falcom wanted to show off scale, so you have some opening shots (in engine) of a skyscraper and later a rocket launch. It definitely builds off of Daybreak. However, it doesn't have that improved lighting seen in Sky 1st Chapter remake.
Music is standard Falcom high quality. You can always bet on their music keeping that classic JRPG energy while occassionally bringing some new dynamics.
The VA (english) is great as usual. Rean's VA does a great job. Long-time Trails fans will recognize him, but also hear how Rean is older, wiser and more confident.
I can't say anything about story so far since I'm way too early.
*Like has been said in other reviews, this is the 13th game in the series and the 3rd game in a story arc. It is meant for veteran Trails fans. I won't tell you not to buy it if you really want it to be your first Trails game. However I always recommend the Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter remake for any newcomers. It is the perfect jumping on point since lore and mechanics don't get too complicated. I'm sure anyone jumping in with this game having not played a Trails game before would be overwhelmed.

Fantastic port as always from PH3. The amount of options for PC is staggering and beyond what one would expect for such a niche series.
English Ulrika is the best, absolutely hilarious. Localization and translation crybabies keep getting Ls left and right.
