The idea of the game is fun and original, dialoges are funny, visuals are nice. But the gameplay is just dull... its all just a bunch of quests to "bring this get that" and it gets old very quickly. The mechanics of fishing are interesting but personaly it also gets a bit too repetitive.
Get 3 of this. Get 3 of that.

Of course the hat costs money.

Without it, things could get really mean.
Greg is stopping me and wants me to get 5 bass.
Boy this is a pain in the ass.
Now, the goblin needs 3 trout.
But I can't do that because Fred the merchant will pout.
His wife Freda thinks he doesn't sell good merch.
Now she wants 5 perch.
But to do that I need a new pole.
All this fetching is really taking a toll.
Bodger wants to help but he needs his hammer.
So off I go, but sudden Baradun starts to yammer.
If I get asked to do one more fetch
I think I am going to retch.
Nice day for Fishing seemed like it would be fun
But I really just want to be done.
I do like this game, however it cooks my GPU/CPU.
*FIXED* I found the issue and the fix. I have a Steam controller USB stick plugged into the back of my PC and for some reason that caused the temps to spiral out of control.
I will leave this review negative for a bit before changing it, hopefully it can warn some controller players of this potential issue with the game.
was looking forward to the release of this game, thought the mechanics and art style was cool and unique, but after playing it i just felt like an errand boy for the townsfolk and not a hero fisherman, there was too much interacting with the townsfolk and not a lot of free-play adventuring, had to run all the way to the west to be told to go all the way back to the east to build a boat, like why couldnt the guy just tell me to build the boat originally in the east? like he teleports all the way to the west to say go back east and talk to some townsfolk npc to build a boat. really wanted to play this game, its for sure relaxing and the dialogue both voice and writing were funny and kind of more realistic with cursing and what not, but at the end of the day its just not for me but i can easily see many people enjoying this game, if the game offered more adventuring and solo-style playing i would have enjoyed it more, every quest is like "go catch fish" then immediately go talk to townsfolk
It's a meme game. Fans of the show will most likely like for the jokes and dialogue. But the game itself is unfortunately pretty damn boring. Sorry ...
I have loved Viva La Dirt League videos for a few years now and when I saw this game it seemed to me as a great way to support them.
The game loop is so booooring , I got a hour and half in and it was just walking from one place to another without any meaningful reason with occasional fishing minigame which I liked. But in the end I just can’t stand the endless walking.
PS: I don’t want to discourage people from buying this game and supporting the creators so you should deffinitelly try it yourself ;)
The game is really on another level for an adventure game. I nvr thought they can make a fishing game something like this. The game is hell fun and i enjoying it. Best of all, Now i can skip the conversation of the NPCs whenever I want. haha
Game bugged out on one of the first quest "Shallow water fishing" where you need to catch bass(3/3) and block attacks(2/3)
Could not get the game to register the 3rd block so I could not progress.

Hate to do it because underneath some horrid slow movement is a decent game for the price if you like their writing. The game is 90% walking sim and the "sprint" speed is like 10% faster than the walk speed. Maybe it gets better in terms of back and forth later but naw, I refunded. Maybe I'll try it again later if they increase the move speed.
The game would be great if not for having to move all the way across multiple screens to do some of the quests. Doesn't help that I quickly bought all the better equipment like 15 or so minutes in and almost 2 hours nothing new has popped up for purchase.
