It's Papers, Please on steroids, There isn't much depth, it's literally the same formula but if you fuck up people in your building die and eventually that catches up with you. It's not a bad game it's just boring in the fact it relies on gotchas to try and engage you and make you feel bad. Sorry Barbara in Floor 3 Room 2. Keep your fucking documents on you next time you stupid fuck.

I have been playing this game since it first came out. I instantly fell inlove with the concept. However, after some itme it gets repetitive, so it needs a bit more deph to it, some new and fresh content that people will most certainly appreciate.

As someone who loved the personalities with the descriptions like: "Always wears a hat." was fun and now I am struggling to guess due to it being removed and not to mention it was funny seeing the "ALWAYS wears a hat" for Mccloy and freaking out seeing him hatless. And not being able for us to ask if they actually left hats homes left me to accidentally let in doples due to it being RNG it's true. They changed too much that make the original game fun. Yes I do like now not being able to call the D.D.D EVERY single time and was shocked by the phone chat. But I do KINDA miss the door thing even though it was too hard for new people to understand without a tutorial that we now have. Making it redundant to remove the accidental: "Oops I left the door open!" ALSO I HATE THE STAMPS I can't understand HOW far around they must be to be considered: "Oops wrong placement!" This is too much and too difficult.

I feel kind of bad giving it a do not recommend. However there are just too many small issues and unnecessary changes. Was the old design for everything universally hated to warrant changing for the steam release? I don't really get it. Why change something if it's not specifically to improve it and it seems to only be changed for the sake of being change. Pros: - When calling a room you can specifically ask if they forgot there documents or if ask if their room mate is home - You can cross off people on the list so you can remember later on who you've let in (or don't need to remember) - Custom mode is hilarious. Love making my own characters in any game like this. Always a good time Cons: - You can literally click things behind documents you have up. Kind of buggy - I literally couldn't find a way to ask about missing accessories when calling apartment/roommate. Like you gave a way to ask about room mate and missing documents but you literally can't ask about missing hats. - Removed descriptions of people??? This is a super weird one. I really can't comprehend any good reason to get rid of this. If you're new to the game you don't know basic details about people and one of the worst one is wearing a hat. In the documents it shows the person without a hat even if they regularly wear one. So if it the doppleganger comes in and they're not wearing a hat and you're new to the game you have no idea. Descriptions allowed you to know things like this. Hats are the biggest issue due to them not being shown in the doc images but it does help for other things. You do have side notes for like (sharp teeth) but why remove the descriptions entirely. Seems dumb to me. - Can't go back after ticking off the tick sheet. If you notice something last second you're just left with the X or O to let them in or not. Also at this stage you can't even close the shutters. So if you notice after ticking the boxes that their appearance is wrong. You can't even kill the doppleganger now. The best you can do is just not let them in. - No manual control to simply let them in. You're forced to do the checklist. I believe this is to give you a better/worse grade depending on if you marked them correctly. I just don't like it. I got quite good at the game. I NEVER used the tick sheet other than asking them a question. Which personal I thought was a fine way to ask them questions. The new way of clicking them and asking is cool aswell. However I just preferred the old way of letting this be manual. Conclusion: Not sure why a load of the changes got changes really. Like I have no idea if the original game got lots of complaints by how it was laid out? and how it was done? I personally thought it was fine. If you're going to change something it should only changed to improve it. Not to simply change it for the sake of changing it. I don't really understand the thought process. Addition: Some complaints I've seen are about having to repurchase the game on Steam. Personally, I'm not a fan of this either. I appreciate when developers provide a key for the new platform, especially when the original version on itch.io will no longer receive updates. In this case, the itch.io version is being abandoned despite buyers being told at purchase that all future updates would be free. There was even confirmation that free Steam keys would be provided. From what I understand, the developer attempted to follow through on this but wasn’t able to. As a developer myself, I know it's usually possible to obtain a decent number of Steam keys by discussing the reasoning directly with Steam. However, I have no idea if the developer tried and was declined, so maybe it wasn’t their fault. That said, if they genuinely wanted to support original buyers but couldn’t distribute Steam keys, why not simply release the Steam version on itch.io for those players to download? Buckshot Roulette did exactly this. They released on Steam and required a repurchase for that platform, but they still updated the itch.io version. I’ve seen people defend this by saying, “It’s only $3, how cheap are you people?” But this was never about the price, it’s about the principle. If a developer promises free updates and even free Steam keys, then goes back on their word while also making the original version unavailable, that’s just bad practice. It’s not about the money, it’s about the trust between developers and their supporters.

I love Papers Please but this game does not reach anywhere near with quality. First it is difficult to manage the different documents and wanting to have different documents open at once is near impossible due to the overlapping. The interrogation button is damn near useless, they always say the same responses to the asked questions - why can't I ask about an incorrect name spelling / expiry date? The game is also way too easy - why no timer to push you faster and make mistakes? I can spend all day reviewing each applicant and the doppelgangers are all quite obvious. There should be interactions with residents if I got their roommate killed by letting in a doppelganger - I let in a doppelganger that killed a guys wife, shouldn't he be pissed at me? In the campaign i noticed it was the same reoccurring guests each day I probably only saw <1/3 or total residents. A very short campaign - completed it in less than 1/2 hour. I understand that it will be added to in future but it has a very limited 'story' with just a few newspaper stories at the beginning - also why can't i keep the newspaper and why does the newspaper not get filled out when a resident gets killed? The clown card mini game is fine I guess? I don't understand why its in there nor it has any relevance to the main game. Good art style and the premise is good but needs a lot done to it before it can be really enjoyable.

it's a great concept, but the dialogue is too repetitive. the characters need some personality, or else why care about them ?

Is it terrible? No. Is it great? No. It's ok. It's a platform similar to Papers Please but with a scifi twist that barely makes sense. My main complaint is you can win the game in like six minutes and there's very little challenge. The doppelgangers are usually very very obvious and it seems more like a game meant for kids or designed without any real challenge intended. There's also no change each day in your duties at all so its the same thing over and over whereas games like Papers Please made things more complicated with new rules and regulations, etc. At it's current sale price of $1.79, go ahead and get it, but don't expect much.

I loved this game on itch.io it definitely took one step forward and two steps back though. For starters the game has added in new features which is great, characters can now be missing hats and different paperwork and not be doppelgangers. That's fun right? Wrong, Not only can single characters; meaning they have no roommates to verify these missing items; and other characters be missing these items but the only thing you can ask about is documents not their hats, in the previous iteration the roommate would just answer and tell you they left their hat behind. There's also characters that cannot be missing a hat (meaning they are a doppelganger), but the character descriptions were entirely removed all together and several of the hat wearing characters do not have them in their photos. Meaning there is no way to know who should have hats and who shouldn't without playing the prior iteration or playing this game so much it just melts into your brain, the special quizzes are no longer random occurrences, they are scripted every single time you play the campaign. Nightmare mode is hard in the original and even harder in this one without the descriptions. You can make your own characters and play them ( i can't comment on this i haven't done it) to top things off a lot of the unique dialog from the original has be removed for a more generic text. TL;DR This game is a great concept but the steam release lost a lot of what made the game great in the first place by removing notes/mechanics. I would 100% recommend the Itch.io Version however it is no longer available for purchase as of the steam release.

I wish I could give this a thumps up, I absolutely loved the original version. This one has lost all the personality of the original. Literally, the neighbors have no personality now, it was all removed. Hopefully one day I can come back and change this review, until then, I do not recommend the game in it's currents state. I wish I could say go support the original but it was removed.

It's a poor imitation of papers please with a more childish setting that becomes repetitive rather quick.

To be honest, I expected more. This game was so fun in the non-steam version, it had more silly text-lines, the hud looked better, the buttons to let in or tell them to go away looked way better, it was so fun to look at them just run away from your window if you forgot to close the door... Overall, it is STILL a fun game, but it's missing so many silly things that made it special before steam version.

nice game, but i spent half of the playtime just restarting the whole campaign JUST to get the wanted posters. my sanity is gone.

It pains me to give this a thumbs down, but the game is just so much worse than it's itch.io predecessor. There are numerous problems with the interface which I am not going to list. In short it's like a hundred steps back from the web version. Then there is a lack of content. I was excited to see campaign mode, but in the end it's nothing more just five days in a row with very little lore sprinkled in. There is no difficulty ramping in it either. I would've hoped that it will be like a month instead of 5 days and with each day we get more lore, more difficult days, perhaps new types of id papers, more interesting clues, more residents per day, etc... This game could've been such a great horror alternative to papers please, but sadly it's shallow. Very shallow. I supported it on itch back in the day, and I bought it here as soon as it was available. I know it's pennies compared what TripleA costs these day and my negativity doesn't come from the cost. I am upset because this game is a wasted potential at this point.

First of all, the game isn’t bad — if it looks interesting to you, go ahead and try it. My main issue is that there's less content than I expected, and the achievements are either really easy or way too difficult. I’ve played for 52 hours (which is a lot for a relatively short game as this one) and still haven’t gotten the last achievement. It requires finding specific posters of unique doppelgangers — there are 32 of them — and they only show up randomly. That means playing hundreds of nearly identical matches with the same content each time, and that gets old fast. In my opinion, the game’s fine if you’re just looking for a bit of entertainment. But I wouldn’t recommend it to completionists (like me) who want to unlock everything. TL;DR: Nice-looking game with fun moments, but not for everyone. If there was another option than recommending it or not I would be somewhere in the middle.
