Killer so un-fun to face, it made me appreciate blight and nurse.

One of the more egregious killers in terms of tunneling potential. In his current state he is capable of deep wounding survivors before they even leave the hook and has the map mobility to ensure that unhooked survivors have no leeway. Other than that he is a pretty alright killer that is hopefully the first of many anime collabs.

This chapter has driven me to quit DBD and be a better person, so in that regard its good but in every other aspect it is the most insufferable thing the developers have ever put out

Cons: - Not fun to play against. With most killers, the fun comes from the chase against them. A few others, like Myers, Pig and Chucky, it can come from the stealth and jump scares. This killer brings neither, there is no surprise element and there is no chase. The usual looping is just gone. This killer can jump anywhere he wants and can damage you through walls. And there really isn't much you can do as a survivor. - Because of the constant deep wounds he inflicts, he's basically another Legion who is already the most hated killer to play against. You should not heal against the Ghoul just like you shouldn't heal against Legion either. What amazing gameplay. Just pray your team brought Resilience x 4. - Not fun to play as. There's really nothing I find engaging or fun in his power. Auto aim should not be a thing and it baffles me how some people can call that good design. Hitting survivors doesn't need any skill and doesn't feel rewarding. It's basically high value, low risk and low skill gameplay. That's never a good thing, it's just bad design all around. - The loudest killer in the game, way too loud! He sounds like a demon-possessed baby who got his pacifier taken away from him. Constantly making these noises is awful to listen to and gets old pretty quick. - Useless perks. Yes, all three of them. I can't imagine any scenario where I would ever use any of these perks. Pick up survivors faster? So game-changing! Apply 5% hinder to survivors after hitting them but only after hitting them 8 times previously? Okay, wow! As for the endgame perk None Are Free, no it's not as good as other endgame perks. You'll still be much better off with Noed, No Way Out or Blood Warden. - Another OP killer at launch, once again. But the good news is that one year from now, he will have been nerfed to the dumpster just like every other new killer. Pros: - Honestly can't think of a single thing I liked about this killer. And I really tried to think! I'd say the Ghoul is right up there with Legion, Skully and Houndmaster as one of the worst killers in the game. I rate this DLC a generous 7 out of 1000.

one of the most skill-less and brain-dead killers they've ever added to this game, extremely busted and easy value with little skill expression. every round plays the same, instantly get injured with auto-lock power and then make no distance because he can quickly trail behind. props to behavior for making a killer so busted that more people spend their money on the chapter to play this character before he's inevitably nerfed into the floor

I watched the first 2 seasons of the anime and really didn't enjoy it so wasn't super hype for this one Imagine my shock when he is the most fun killer in the game to play, I haven't enjoyed playing killer this much since Myers first released back in 2016 That said i do really wish this fella would stop screaming so much

This is easily one of the worst killer launches from BHVR. The Ghoul is a killer who combines some of the strongest mechanics in the game into a single package. They are easily in the top 3 for Killers, and I would argue confidently they are in second place right behind nurse. The Ghoul's ability is the lowest skill floor, high mobility action currently in the game. It has a base CD of 8 seconds for 2 long distance jumps. However, if the ghoul hits someone with the second jump (which is a lock on, hitscan ability with a massive range and auto-correct on the aim), he goes to a 7.5 second CD on 3 consecutive jumps. Already you have a killer who can, quite literally, cross the entire map in less than 4 seconds. They can hook someone and hit someone on the other side of the map before BBQ and Chili (Aura read past 40 meters) has expired. This alone would make the killer a strong pick - unparalleled map mobility for patrolling objectives, catching survivors between loops, etc. And the ability is very forgiving and doesn't require skill to line up like Blight or Nurse might need to. But that's just the mobility. The Ghoul's lock on attack during this time can hit over pallets, windows, and some walls. This feels like a bug, but I cannot confirm if it actually is. It also inflicts Deep Wounds, which provides a minor slowdown effect over the course of the game. Think Legion, but there is no mind game at pallets - you always get hit. The ghoul can also jump over pallets and windows using his power, turning his vault into 1 second. This makes several generally safe loops like the Killer's Shack unsafe for survivors. Finally, you can cancel your leap while sliding as ghoul, meaning you can have the recovery animation (which stops you from instantly attacking) play WHILE YOU ARE STILL MOVING, resulting in about a half second window for survivors to put a pallet between you and them. And this isn't even considering the addons, one of which is bugged and makes survivors scream anywhere on the map (even in lockers) giving the ghoul built in tracking to find their next chase instantly. I have played 15 games of Ghoul. I have 3-4Ked (depending on slugging for the 4k) every single game. I do not have experience with other mobility based killers like Blight or Nurse (I generally play Deathslinger, Alien, and Myers). I should not be able to auto-win every game due to non-existant skill floor on a high performing killer. BHVR clearly wants this chapter to sell well and as such has implemented a killer that is very fun to play, but is very unfair to the other side. The soloQ experience has never been worse due to this killer being 99% of your games. If you haven't bought this, don't. Don't support this type of monetary incentive for game balance. In a few months the ghoul will likely be dramatically nerfed when the cash flow starts to slow down. Until then, play something else (or sit in killer Queue for 10-15 minutes). Silver Lining: Survivors are less likely to DC or suicide if you play literally ANYTHING other than ghoul. They are so grateful for any reprieve from the absolute travesty that is this killer.

At first, I had fun playing as Kaneki/Ghoul, and even while playing against him. I even bought the Lize Kamishiro skin (very beautiful, and the killer don't scream every 10s in the lobby after equipping it). But after a lot of trials, I realized it is (another) badly designed killer, especially because of their power. Their power is, more or less, an aimbot tool. After using it once on an obstacle, a huge cursor will allow you to click on a survivor, performing an undodgeable and - even worse - unmissable attack. It could have been missable if it didn't allow to hit survivors who just went behind a palet, a vault or a wall (these kind of protections work against the Deathslinger, for example). But no: you click, and the hit is guaranteed. The first hit is free. Sometimes, while playing Kaneki, I was able to hit survivors who went behind an obstacle or dropped a palet only a half-second before I clicked... It also work when a survivors is falling from a high spot. Well, as a conclusion, in its current state, Kaneki's power seems extremely clunky. Some people could argue that this power can't down survivors. Because of this, Kaneki could be seen as a killer who have a very strong skill for engaging chase, but would be mostly a M1 killer after performing it. Sadly, this is not completely true: it can also be used in order to quickly cut distances between survivors and the killer, and even (if the slide effect is performed properly) to body-block and prevent them to reach palets. The power also provides an insane mobility on the map, making the game very difficult when only two or one survivors are remaining. Consequently, after only a few days, I don't have fun anymore while playing against this new killer, who can be encountered in almost every single game currently (that's a common thing when a new killer has been released). In a more general point of view, I am tired of the fact that Behaviour is releasing more and more unskilled and clunky killers. The Knight with his automatic guards, Vecna who can literally cancel the palet mechanic, the Dogmaster with her (in some situations) undodgeable dog, the dumb Trickster's rework... and now this. What is the intention of the developers, exactly? These power are not healthy for the game. Since Kaneki's release, the state of solo queue games had become awful. With every new killer release, a lot of survivors give up very quickly, if not at the very beginning. It is a common thing on DbD. But now... it is even worse than with any other DLC (in my personal experience, at the very least). This killer's power could have been something more fun, skilled and unique than this aimbot-like thing. For example, it could have allowed to go in-air, and then to perform a falling brutal attack. I am not a Tokyo Ghoul reader, but I am convinced that some more original abilities could have been imagined. Mangakas are creative, I would be surprised if Kaneki didn't perform more thrilling actions in the manga. My feedback will stay red until this character get a rework. I really would like to give a thumb up, because I envoyed playing as the Ghoul. But no - not in this clunky state of his power. Have fun anyway in the Fog.

I appreciate that Natsuki Hanae (Kaneki VA from Anime) was cast for the role, as he effectively conveys the emotions and voice of Kaneki. While some critics argue that he is overly expressive, I, as a fan of the series, strongly disagree; his portrayal is both accurate and true to the character. This adaptation is designed with fans in mind, making it the correct choice. Additionally, the character model and overall artistic design have been successfully translated into a more realistic 3D game, deserving recognition for the developers' efforts. The killer character is enjoyable to play both as and against, ranking among the most fun in recent times. However, there is a need to adjust the auto-aim feature, as it's too easy to inflict injuries. While this ease is somewhat justified given his powers, which are intended to facilitate injuries similar to Legion's abilities, it has reached a point where missing with his power seems nearly impossible. Overall, he is a formidable killer, though not quite on the same level as Nurse or Blight, likely placing him in third position. This review is made prior to the upcoming nerfs, which are expected to affect his ranking.

Man, I was really excited when I heard Dead by Daylight was getting a Tokyo Ghoul chapter. The idea of playing as Ken Kaneki sounded awesome, right? Well, turns out, this killer is basically just Legion and Wesker combined, with all the fun taken out. Instead of a high skill ceiling or an active playstyle, we got a killer with auto-aim and a free injure/deep wound mechanic that goes through terrain and lets him tunnel survivors out of the game without much effort. Exciting, right? Not so much. The Ghoul, as it stands, is honestly a complete joke to play. It's like the devs decided that aiming was too hard for the average killer player, so they gave him auto-aim. If you want to completely turn your brain off and tunnel someone for an easy kill, The Ghoul is your guy. His best playstyle? Tunnel the survivor, rinse and repeat. No challenge, no strategy, just pure frustration. Going against The Ghoul is equally painful. Every encounter feels like you're stuck in a boring loop. You're either constantly holding W to prevent him from getting the bodyblock with his leap or you're just getting hit through terrain because of his auto-aim mechanic. Neither is fun, neither is engaging. It’s just the same thing over and over again. It’s hard to believe how such a promising character could be so dull. His playstyle is about as exciting as watching paint dry. It’s the same tedious loop every match: hook a survivor, go to the gen, survivor unhooks, go back in 3 seconds, apply deep wound, down, rinse and repeat. It’s not fun, and it doesn’t make for engaging gameplay. When the only things you can say about a killer’s replayability are “he can bodyblock people” or “he can pressure unhooked survivors like he's running Wesker’s conference device,” you know you’ve got a problem. There’s just nothing about this killer that makes me want to play him again. If I want a high-mobility grab attack killer, I’ll play Wesker. If I want constant injures and no healing, I’ll play Legion or Plague. If I want cross-map mobility, Hillbilly’s my go-to. The Ghoul just takes the worst aspects of these killers and throws them together in a way that feels lazy and uninspired outside of He Wall jump. Some people are calling this “peak design,” but I honestly can’t see how. Maybe it’s just because the game hasn’t had anything exciting in a while, but if this is what we’re now calling good killer design, I’m really worried for the future of Dead by Daylight. The skill ceiling? Gone. It’s as basic and uninteresting as Legion, and that’s saying a lot. It’s just unbelievable that BHVR keeps missing the mark, especially with something as iconic as Tokyo Ghoul.

Season 1 of tokyo ghoul first released when i was around 13 years old. It was one of the initial gateways to east asian horror as a child, so it's always had a place in my heart. For that reason alone, i can’t help but completely love this chapter. I’m not an expert on the meta or gameplay in this game, but i personally love kaneki’s design in-game and find him very fun to play. I adore all of the collab skins as well, and that’s enough for me to recommend this chapter. As a side note, I personally cannot fathom the complaints behind this chapter, gameplay aside. I didn’t think people would still be complaining about new chapters after we’ve experienced a kpop killer, dungeons & dragons, and the literal nicolas cage being in this game. Horror is not just masked men from slasher films; horror is a diverse genre meant for everyone! Despite how open the west has become to anime since the pandemic, it does sadden me seeing people complain about this chapter because a lot of people still have the mindset that anime is just mindless battle action cartoons meant for children. personally i hope the success of this chapter encourages bhvr to continue to push boundaries and collect more anime licenses for the game in the future :)

This isn't going to end well for either side of this game. If you like killer - Do not buy this. The killer is both broken and bugged. It has already been nerfed once (to little effect) and you are going to spend money on something that is going to get continuously gutted. The entire trick the devs are using here is to release a killer that is very OP so sales go up, and then nerve that killer to re-balance the game once they've taken your money. Do not fall for this company's bullshit.

Golden formula of well-balanced killer . Since today dear developers should really do killers like ghoul . He is not strong , yet not as weak as half of the roster , which makes him PLAYABLE . Being playable is the first criteria for a killer to buy them for playing , the second is how fun the killer is . Kaneki is simple but still gives a lot of opportunities to perform some good plays . We finally found out that good mobility and not-so-punishing ability is all players need to enjoy the game as killer (still syringes , antiseptic , DS , OTR , STB , eyrie of crows , autoheaven , badham exist in game but DbD does steps into right path with this chapter)

Honest review, the concept is cool, everything about this killer is cool, but realistically the skill ceiling for this character is just legion with highermobility and the auto aim takes any skill he would've had, they should've polished this chapter more before putting it out. S tier killer too with the overbuffs on release. 10/10 to play as. 3/10 to play against. only thumbs down because how buggy mess it is.
