Man this is a mixed bag. So much feels SO good, and I mean that. The ragdolls and enemies physics. The GORE oh my god the gore is beautiful and seems to actually match where the weapons hit AND generate dependent on what weapon you're using. We all love Crane, and the Brutal mode kicked my ass as a vet from DL1 + DL2 and installing those high difficulty mods for DL1.
But it just doesn't feel... there? Again this is from a $70 purchase price point, not $40, not $50, priced as a FULL game. XP gains for differing actions were CUT. You get XP for killing mobs, and completing quests. NO MORE PARKOUR EXP. As well, the skill trees are TINY. I'm talking maybe 12 skills TOTAL ( I have been informed it is actually 21 ) if you're not considering "Beast Skills" which are upgraded by killing the game's minibosses (Chimeras). As well, mouse over the level indicator at any time and from what I saw there are only 15 total levels ( my placard showed 1/15 when starting ).
Guns are back and you get one within the first mission ( oh no ), anddd the balance is placed around the guns being terrible and not dealing any damage, NOT around ammo / weapon scarcity. They feel genuinely worthless to use as they deal significantly less damage than melee, understandable when done to a degree but when you're given 20 rounds to start, and 1 shot equals 3 melee hits it just doesn't feel like they'll actually scale nicely.
The parkour feels fine? Jump feels slightly delayed which is obnoxious, and unfortunately THERE ARE NO REAL PARKOUR SKILLS TO UNLOCK, Crane starts with his subset of knowledge from 1 and appears to have retained it entirely with the exception of being geriatric because of plot events. And this is... fine? But seems both inconsistent and incongruent with any feel of actual pacing. For instance, Crane still knows how to "Tic-Tac" from the get go, but he doesn't know how to "sneak"? Like he can crouch but I guess he's just bumbling while crouched instead of sneaking? Similarly Crane has somehow forgotten how to "disguise" as the infected, literally forgotten how to rub guts on his face, so much so that it's the FINAL skill in one of the trees? They feel haphazardly placed all around and partially as if the devs had no actual vision / cohesive idea for what made sense for Crane to retain.
Speaking of plot, seems REALLY inconsistent. So ALL infected are affected in some way by UV lights ( including basics ). BUT the basics are shown to hang out and around in the SUN? Like okay I can suspend my disbelief, maybe the tiny shit UV light you get right at the tutorial is HIGHLY concentrated but what? Kyle also seems to have inconsistent motivations with what was shown in the first game, even seemingly FORGETTING what the infected were? Like what? And seemingly apprehensive towards killing them when asked to by others ( not like I cool guy, I do what I want and don't have time, but moreso a ohhh no I don't like hurting the wittle infected :( )
Combat is fine so far, again no real skills or advancements to be made based on the given skill tree. Only gripe ( aside from guns ) is that weapons break SUPER quick. I'm talking before completing the first objective of the first quest ( on Brutal difficulty ) all 4 weapons broke and I was having to swing my knuckles just to make it. You CAN repair them ( thanks backlash from Dying Light 2 ) but ONLY a limited number of times.
Customization is fine enough, it's cool seeing giga chad Crane get dressed up in different fits and each armor piece you're wearing DOES appear to correspond with something appearing on his body.
Overall is it a BAD game? Nah, I wouldn't say so. But I WOULDN'T pay $70 for it, $40 base and $50 for DLC? Sure I'd consider, but it feels unfinished, like content was left out, and even seeing the deluxe edition not spouting any DLC packs for the future makes me REALLY concerned and unwilling to go over steam's 2 hour limit.
I KNOW Techland will fix it retroactively, and I can't wait for them to do so, but this just ain't it right now, I recommend doing what a lot did for DL2 and waiting for those actual major changes + discounts to come through.

I hate to give this game a negative review because it DOES have some good moments and I really love dying light. Right off the bat ill say that this game really should have stayed as DLC. Ill explain my grievances in categories:
The Story:
The story is short DESPITE the fact that it is 75% filler junk added to pad the runtime in order to justify a 60$ price tag. I cannot stress enough that a huge portion of this games story are annoying (and boring) boss fights and fetch quests. There are about 3 boss types that the game reuses throughout the story, you have the big brute, the fast jumpy one, and the acid spitter. If you were to strip all the filler out and focused on a nicer dlc sized story I think it would've led to an overall nicer experience.
The map:
This is the part that bothers me most. For starters there's only one map, as apposed to the two maps that's become standard for the series. I did not know this at first and about the midpoint of the story I found myself looking forward to a change of scenery as the forest grows old. Fast. I understand they were going for a mix of Dying Light the following and Dl2's first city, but my god does it just not work. First there's just not enough city to enjoy this games parkour. You've got a small corner of the map thats nice to hop rooftop to rooftop in, but the rest is just wilderness (and yes I know the industrial place exists its just not nearly as interesting or fun to parkour in). The wilderness is, of course, no where near as fun to run around in and its a damn shame because most of the map is forest. This leads me to my next complaint.
The cars:
Similarly to DL: The Following this game has cars. Thats where the similarities end. First off unlike DL:TF the cars in the game arent yours, you don't own them and cannot modify or customize them in any way. You just find a car and get to driving. Secondly the car sucks so bad, unlike DL:TF's buggy these cars are slow and break so easily. Also unlike DL:TF this map is not built for cars, as instead of large open fields you get forests with a shit ton of trees blocking your way. There is also no way to summon a car, so you have to find them in the wild which just tends to not be worth the time.
The combat:
The combat feels fine for the most part, sometimes it feels like zombies unfairly grab you but it isnt a huge problem. The human combat however seems to be a step down from DL2. Now its been a second since ive played DL2 so I cant quite pinpoint the exact issue but the human fights feel much more like DL1's janky human combat rather than the improved DL2 combat system.
The good:
First off the graphics are amazing even on the lowest settings, I didnt have many frame issues and the download size is manageable. Secondly this game is spooky (so long as you're not so frustrated that nothing really scares you) The nighttime feels dangerous again and the game throws in a cheeky jumpscare every once and a while. Thirdly the gore is amazing, it feels quite nice to see all the damage you can do to the zombies. Fourthly the story (If we ignore the obvious padding and shitty fetch quests) is actually pretty good for dying light standards. It really picks up at the end and the evil dude is actually pretty scary. The parkour feels nice as well, but thats to be expected since its basically just DL2's parkour system. If only you got to enjoy it in a nice big city instead of a tiny urban town.
TLDR:
Game should've stayed DLC. Short story (Despite being filled with shitty filler). Combat is a downgrade from DL2. The cars suck. The map is mostly forest (which sucks). Good story if you ignore the filler. I despise the bosses.
Do I hate the game? No. Is it worth the price? No.
Id only get it if you're a dead hard dying light fan (like myself) and want to see where the story heads. And also wait for a sale please its really not a 60$ game.
Please techland keep to city environments its so much better than forests.

So far this is the best Dying Light, all of them are good but this is a step ahead with way more care in music/ atmosphere and cinema especially.
There is only one thing that made me scratch my head the whole time...if the game is set in east europe why are there soooo many but like sooooo many black zombies??

Pre-load only 12 hours before launch, information about pre-load onlty 2 hours before launch... Due to my working hours and limited Internet options in the region I was unable to play the game at launch time.
Additionaly, after reaching open-world and after a few minutes or reching Old Town - fps drops to almost NONE and game is unplayable, it is problematic to even quit it at this point.

I would really like to upvote this game, but its god awful savegame policy won't let me. I had to hustle through a series of zombies to get to a certain point of the game, but had to close the game in order to attend to real life chores. When I got back, I discovered that I has hurled back to an earlier checkpoint and had to go through all that shit again! Nope.

When they announced Dying Light: The Beast, I was absolutely shocked because I wasn't expecting a new Dying Light game for at least 5-10 years. From the very first reveal, it looked amazing. Compare it to Dying Light 2... it blew DL2 out of the water by a mile.
Then they announced that DL:TB would be free for anyone who had the Ultimate Edition of DL2. To me, this was a perfect "gift" to Dying Light fans. I knew it was supposed to be DLC for DL2, so I wasn't sure how Techland was going to handle the release of this game, but they handled it well, might I add.
Is Dying Light: The Beast worth it? Is it a good game? Well, from what I have played so far, it is. I am just waiting for my friends to play more of it! Below, I will share my thoughts and opinions about the game! I just want to say something before I get into it!
Other developers need to take a hint
What's this? No Unreal Engine 5 - Game runs absolutely fine. No lagging, suttering, fps drops, flickering green lights/artifacting. Nothing is wrong with this game on PC. What's this? No Denuvo DRM - Game runs absolutely fine. For the first time in 9 months, 21 days, and 32 minutes, you can see what is wrong in the gaming community with just one game release. Congratulations, Techland - you have released one of the only games for the past 2 years that actually works flawlessly for the majority of people.Pro's
⚫The graphics are amazing. Everything looks detailed. From inside buildings to the streets of that zombie-infested location, you get to explore! ⚫The combat is just... brutal, bloody, and full of gore. Slashing away with sharp weapons, or pulverising zombies with sledgehammers/blunt weapons, feels RIGHT. You see their heads split open. Their jaws break apart. Their arms being cut off their bodies. Oh, just thinking about it makes me want to go back and start slaying some zombies! ⚫Another note about the combat - melee weapons feel good. The swing and reach of the weapons just feels right. The crunch of the weapons hitting off bones. This is what I missed from Dying Light the most! ⚫Kyle Crane is back, and he brings a gruesome story along with him. If you have played The Following, you will understand. He got captured, experimented on for 13 (or was it 15) years, and turned into some sort of "BEAST" with the ability to rip zombies in half, crush their skulls with your bare hands... It's up to you to find out what happened! (Sorry, no spoilers.) ⚫Cool little easter eggs to find just like Dying Light!! My favourite one is James from Silent Hill!! (There’s more to find, go find them!!!) ⚫The open world is fantastic to explore and, in my honest opinion, this is how an open-world game should be. Not "over-the-top", "too much to do", it's just right. I can't explain it exactly, but if you know Dying Light, it's like that (Not Dying Light 2, which was just a disaster to keep on top of at times). ⚫Dying Light: The Beast, for me anyway, has had no issues running. It seems to be perfectly optimised, again, for me. I do have a high-end PC. I can't speak for others, and I have only played it for 8 hours, so issues may arise in the future. Crossing my fingers, I don’t encounter anything to bad like what happens when I play a UE5 game. ⚫You know that messy, clunky menu/UI that DL2 had? Well, no more of that. The menus are pretty straightforward and easy to use in The Beast.Con's
⚫The only thing I have noticed that HAS happened is the day and night cycle "bugging out". What I mean by this is - when I was playing coop, my 2 friends were somehow seeing daylight, whereas I was in nighttime and Volatile's were roaming around. My 2 friends could also see the volatiles and be killed by them. ⚫This could be a pro or con, take it as you will - If you are a fan of Dying Light and, let’s say, overplayed it, you will notice a lot of familiarity playing The Beast. Again, this can be good or bad as it’s not really “NEW” if you get me. If I encounter any other issue, I will make sure to include it here or anything else I may not like about the game.My Verdict
So far from what I have played, Dying Light: The Beast has been arguably one of the most optimised games to be released in the past 2/3 years. I wonder why. No Denuvo DRM? No Unreal Engine 5? Who knows. This is no GOTY as it is very similar to Dying Light (1) so if you have played a tonne of that, it might feel stale to some degree, other than that, It's pretty damn good and worth every penny so far!8/10! Dying Light: The Beast is very familiar to us Dying Light fans, but at least it does it right!

This is a shit game, because:
*A lot of people couldnt choose to buy it. People who bought dying light 2 got 1 broken game & 1 crap dlc then they decided to go back on their word & make another shit game without asking if we would like our money back then force feed it to us.
*This game is blatantly sexist, not just sort of like the previous ones. You have female zombies naked & their repulsive tits jumping around, if this were not sexist there would be male zombies with broken speedoes with their ballsacks jumping around as well. There are also pictures depicting a naked woman seemingly humping an armrest. I rly dont get why they cant offer an option without nudity like they offer options without gore, blatant disrespect for women & for the consumers who were sold & paid for 1 game & 2 dlcs but got a completely different crap game. I want a zombie game not a porn game.
I never bought this game, i rly did try it but its just disgusting. It was bad enough with swimwear. I was patiently waiting for a finished game that never came, they just decided to scrap it & move on. Will never trust these fuckers again. Liars. As if this wasnt enough they ruined their 1st game by adding a nag screen that actively disrupts gameplay unless you enable invasions so i cant even enjoy the 1st game. Absolute shitshow & hope devs get fired. Selling 1 product & delivering another is a crime here & i rly hope someone takes them to court over it. This cost a lot of money & i want mine back.

Currently unplayable for me, cause of performance issues. Fps can drop from 80 to 20 in 30 mins regardless of settings. I have only 8GB of vram so it could be a memory leak. I had similar issues in DL2 right after release, but now it works flawlessly. Will change review if the problem gets fixed, cause otherwise it's a really good game. It's an upgraded version of DL2 with a lot of DL1 added in.
Edit: My specs are in the comments

Just an FYI, the start has a long intro. So that will eat into your 2 hour refund time.
Game is dark, no not at night I mean It Is Dark Everywhere. You start with a flashlight, that doesn't work. It does briefly do a UV flash, which can stun zombies, but is useless otherwise when it is So Dark Everywhere. Trailers showed us using a flashlight, maybe that's a "skill" I have to unlock later? Seriously? To look forward to having a working flashlight....
Tutorial prompts are quick, miss it and you won't know what button does what unless you check settings or google.
At least it doesn't come with the malware Deunvo, so that's a plus.

This is the actual sequel to Dying Light 1. This game literally screams "we messed up with Dying Light 2 so let’s go back to what made the first one so special". Welcome back, Kyle Crane. Good night and good luck.

I just started the game and it has already spammed me 3 times and opened the browser to create an account on the EpiG shit website, what kind of shady ads is this. The story takes place in the Alps in Europe but 99% of the zombies are black.

I can't believe I just launched the game in 2025 and it works, feels and plays soooo good like back in the old days. Proper game for a proper price, when devs know how to make a good optimization without any "premium" gamers stuff.
We gamers do really need so little just to be happy

I really enjoyed playing the first Dying Light, much more than the sequel. I'm glad to see a return to the roots. Finally, after all these years, we have the true sequel. Maxed out Kyle Crane at night be like: “I am not in danger, I am the danger.”

The Grab mechanic the zombies have ruins this game. they grab way too often, and it even cancels you if you are mid swing with your melee attack. once it even happend when i used the charge kick on a zombie and it just grabbed me any way, like i didnt even do it in the first place... suuuper annoying.
