For context: I’m writing this after clearing every stage on my first try (not perfect scores, but one-pass clears across the board). In its current state, I’d still mark this as “Not Recommended (for now)” – but it’s very much the “I want to see you grow” kind of not recommended. There are plenty of positives. The overall polish is solid, and some level presentations actually have more punch and drama than Rhythm Heaven. The way certain stages combine animation and rhythm is really playful and charming – you even get to play a little bit of Rhythm Doctor inside the game, which briefly made me wonder if I’d booted up a different title (in a good way). You can clearly tell the dev loves rhythm games and knows some music theory, instead of just slapping random beats together. The problems, however, are also quite clear: Not enough content – When I hit the ending, my reaction was basically “Wait, that’s it?”. In terms of how long the full run feels, even the old Wii Rhythm Heaven seems to have at least roughly twice as many stages and ideas packed in. At the current price point and MY expectation level, this game feels more like a really polished “advanced demo” than a full-length rhythm game. Some rhythm designs are quite niche and unintuitive for regular players – A few stages are built around clever rhythmic concepts that feel very “music school”, which is cool on paper, but for most players those patterns just aren’t very familiar and can come across as unfriendly. On top of that, the musical guidance and melodic writing sometimes suffer from being a bit too “academic”. Many tracks sound like etudes or classroom examples – harmonically correct, neatly structured, but not especially catchy. Since I one-passed every stage, I can’t really say the game literally forces you to memorize charts. But in practice, I ended up focusing so much on the timing windows and rhythmic details that most songs didn’t leave a strong melodic impression on me (aside from a few of demo levels). For a rhythm game, it feels like a missed opportunity when you mostly remember “this note comes slightly early, that one slightly late” instead of “wow, that song was great, this note hit the song I just didnt realize”. If future updates can: Add more stages with a smoother difficulty and rhythm-concept curve; Let the music itself do more of the heavy lifting in guiding timing (drums, melody, recurring motifs), so players can just “follow the song” instead of relying mainly on memorization and counting beat; Introduce a few truly catchy, memorable “headline tracks” and theme melody that people actually want to loop outside the game; then I’d be more than happy to come back and flip this to a positive review – and probably pick up the OST.

If Steam had a "mixed" option, I would use that -- I do still recommend this game for most people, with caveats listed below. I received this game as a "Slacker Backer" after the Kickstarter ended and received this as a Steam key, so this review does not contribute to the game's overall rating. To start, this game is an excellent homage to the Rhythm Heaven series. The artwork in this game is charming and unique. Many minigames have fun visual gags that show a lot of care and thought. I also did not have issues with input lag while using a keyboard. Certain minigames suffer from poor audio balancing between music and cues, and some cues blend in too much with the music, making it harder to instinctually play. An example of this would be the Globe Trotters game, which is virtually like Lockstep from Rhythm Heaven, but with very hard to hear onbeat-offbeat-switch cues. (Additionally, this minigame made me quite motion sick from the rotating backgrounds.) The music overall was quite forgettable. Regarding the endless games, I think the pacing of introducing them after each remix ("mixtape") was good. I found the three-legged race and conductor games very charming. The metalworking game was fun once I understood it, but the applause one was straight-up nonsensical. There was/is also a bug with the conductor game where the indicated keybind for the metronome was incorrect (and later, not working). The game is decently polished, but there are some minor quality of life issues. I do wish you were able to skip games' title cards once you've played the game once. Another example: you are not able to see the names of minigames on the selection screen. I found out that you could use the screen-reading narrator to say the names of the games, but there should be an on-screen text label. This also applies for the endless games in the game corner where they do not have title cards. Generally, I found most of the minigames unmemorable other than their visual gags, and all of the mixtapes did not stand out to me. The final mixtape also had very little energy -- definitely not reminiscent of a final remix in a Rhythm Heaven game. Overall, I think if someone is looking to scratch their Rhythm Heaven itch before the next game comes out, this is a fine indie game that is decent value for money, but don't expect the same kind of musical design quality or polish. However, for being a rhythm game, the basic issues with audio cannot be ignored, hence my mixed rating.

I enjoyed the game a lot! I have been waiting for it since it was announced and I'm glad its a really enjoyable experience, I've played all Rhythm Heaven games and its a really good spiritual succesor (I know that RH is not dead anymore but still), I've seen some reviews claiming that it doesn't meet the quality standard of a Rhythm Heaven game but cmon its a game created by just 5 people and it's amazing in quality for their first game. My only con would be that its a little bit short but its not that bad since its a cheap game, hopefully there will be more minigames on the future or part 2 of the minigames already in game, hell even another game would be cool.

I was thinking really hard on if I was going to give this game a positive or negative review, but I chose to give it a negative review as there are things I need to get across. Coming to the game as a rhythm heaven fan since that is this games heavy inspiration, I was cautiously positive, the demo seemed nice and polished so when the game released I was expecting it to have the same, if not more polish than the demo, and my hopes were unfortunately wrong. Lets start with the music for example- as a rhythm game based on rhythm heaven you'd expect the music to be heavy hitting and blend with the minigames in a way that's meaningful, but this game doesn't do that. Other negative reviews have mentioned it but a lot of the music in this game isn't bad, it just isn't very impactful or fitting within the minigames, it really does feel like miscellaneous background music in a platformer or something, which is mildly disappointing cause there are a handful of songs in this game which are actually good and fit the minigames they're in. Speaking of the minigames lets talk about those. A lot of them feel half baked or even underbaked compared to the games in the demo, it feels like they cherry picked some of their best minigames, as a lot of the games in the full version have less polished graphics, music, and some are even ripped straight out of rhythm heaven but worse. To add more, the audio cues feel nonexistent a lot of the time, of course they are there since its important in a game trying to replicate rhythm heaven, but some of them are so quiet or barely noticeable that it takes away the feeling of being able to beat any minigame with your eyes literally closed, like in the original rhythm heaven titles, and in a lot of the games there is either too much or too little happening, a lot of them feel poorly choreographed making you either feel bored out of your mind or a little overwhelmed. The biggest issue for a LOT of the minigames is the length, most of the games in rhythm heaven are 2 minutes. Maybe a little less, maybe a little more, and the length of the minigames in this are around the same time, so there shouldn't be an issue, right? Well, going back to the point of the music being a little bland, those 2 minutes feel way longer than they actually are, making the minigames feel like they're stretched out for way too long. The mixtapes are probably the best music in this game, and even the first and last ones lack a bit in that department if you ask me. To the final points, the endless games, i actually don't have anything negative to say about these. they're sweet and fun for what they are. There's 4 endless games and each one goes up to 4 players, nothing to complain about other than them being a little gimmicky. I really wanted to like this game as a rhythm heaven fan, but it feels too short, and I personally didn't see a reason to go back after beating the minigames, none of them have that addictive chemical or satisfying feeling you would get from the actual rhythm heaven minigames, this game has passion, love, and effort put behind it, but it feels like it could've benefitted from taking longer and being polished to perfection, it feels like once they picked a release date they tried to hurry it out by the release date instead of pushing it back for quality sake.

In terms of what it has this game is a nine out of ten if a bit short... Is what I would say if it didn't have the WORST FUCKING OCTEAPARTY SECTION IN THE FINAL MIXTAPE!!! I give it a SIX or maybe even a FIVE out of ten

Bits and Bops final rating: An excellent spiritual successor to Rhythm Heaven! Charming visuals and memorable music! Gameplay is fantastic and fair to read! The Flow Worms are precious creatures and I will protect them with my life! ...but still, JUST OKAY Don't get me wrong, I still highly recommend this game, but it's certainly... lacking. You beat the Final Mixtape, ready for things to really ramp up... and then the game ends. It left me wanting more in both a really good way, and a really bad way. Hoping the game could get some free updates in the future, giving these minigames more time to shine! Sequel minigames in particular, many of the minigames feel like they'd benefit from an extra hard version of the original. Especially the Robot Dance Minigame, it feels like it needs... that "Je n'sais quoi" that only a sequel could provide. tldr; I do recommend this game, but keep in mind that it's very short as of right now, and we currently do not know whether or not it'll get more content in the future. If you're okay with short and really fun experiences, give it a purchase!

Amazing game for those who's waiting new Rhythm Heaven - game looks like spin-off with more cartoonish graphics. But anyway it's perfect and was worth the wait. Insta buy for rhythm game enjoyers

Disappointing, to be honest. It doesn't really scratch that Rhythm Heaven itch because most of the games suffer from unrecognisable audio cues masked by the loud music, and the games just feel like they have bad pacing where it'll throw too much at you at once. It just doesn't feel that great to play, the demo games felt alright. The game is also really short.
