This game is essentially TPing simulator, just with lights instead of toilet paper.
In this game you are tasked with the very important objective of destroying everyone retinas.
Unlimited lights = unlimited power = unlimited pain.
Some people may play this game to relax, I use it as a family friendly way to hurt all those who have wronged me. Just imagining how long it would take for these towns folk to undo my chaos gives me pleasure beyond words.

More-so a 'neutral' review rather than negative.
I think people are blind-sided by how dang cute this game is. Because YES. IT'S CUTE. Bean is adorable. But...
The gist is you throw lights around everywhere and throw different items on the ground to 'decorate'. There's no limit on where you can throw things.
But once you've chucked a couple lights around... you've realised that's it. The story is short. Can be beaten in well under an hour. (I know people will be abusing the two hour Steam refund policy. EDIT: I have refunded.)
There just isn't a lot to do. Sure you have the ability to put lights or items ANYWHERE, but there's no sense of reward for doing any of it. For example you can throw a light or item(eg candy cane) over and over and over and over again in the SAME spot and it will count as the area is complete eventually. You can speedrun this game by simply spamming the mouse button without ever moving.
I can't see myself opening this game more than three or four times as everything is already completed. Majority of decorations purchased already etc. Overall, I weirdly enjoyed the demo more than the actual game.
The devs also kept pushing the game back and back because of bugs (in an unprofessional way might I add), only for the game to still be kinda littered with them here and there. (Animals not talking, Bean getting stuck, Bean sliding across the ground/clipping into the ground, Decorations disappearing, Decorations glitching out and flying through the air, Decorations getting stuck in the foreground, Map not letting you travel without quitting the game and reloading etc)
But hey, it's cute. It's festive. If you want a winter holidays/christmas-y game that you can be cosy with for a couple hours then sure. If it's your thing where there is no goal to reach apart from just pure decoration of the town, then it's your game. Cuz yes. Bean is A D O R A B L E. THE STORY IS ACTUALLY QUITE CUTE AND INTERESTING TOO DESPITE IT'S LENGTH. "They're not JUST lights~" was an adorable line and I still want to protect Bean at all costs.
I can still see this game becoming somewhat of a hidden success and I hope the devs add more to it one day <3

Same, Leo, same. For $15 ($13 on sale), and an hour of gameplay with tons of bugs littered throughout... Additionally the two different delays seemed to not help much.
I will say, the only things redeemable about this game is the cozy feeling and the animation style. Besides that it is very bland.

This may be the cutest game about child labor ever.
No, but in all honesty this game is so great. I'm not even that far in and I love it. It is so relaxing to be able to be creative with lights and string lights anywhere you want. Bean is so damn cute, and the graphics are really nice! This may sound crazy but the magical night sky effects seem to embody how Christmas eve feels as a kid to me, and it adds a level of warmth and coziness. This game is totally worth the $15!
If you are a person that does not enjoy being creative with not a ton of structure, this game may not be for you. It advertises itself as a game where you just decorate houses and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. If you complain that that's all you do, I'm not sure what you were expecting.

An emotional tale centered around the Christmas spirit of unyielding determination and community, with an underlying message of big electricity using unpaid child labor to tax thousands of dollars from local residents to pay for an egregious amount of Christmas lights.

I feel like the Grinch for writing this review, and perhaps it's a personal thing based on the many positive reviews, but I find the controls of this game to be non-intuitive and not user friendly. There are 3 camera modes, and I initially started off in cinematic mode which essentially forces you to face forward with no camera rotation. It took me maybe 20 minutes to play around with the different modes and find what works best for camera rotation while decorating. For me, it ended up being third person mode (first person makes me a bit dizzy), but even that felt janky and frustrating. I think it would've been a little easier to navigate if there was a cursor (such as in cinematic mode) vs. a static dot in the middle of the screen. Unfortunately, in this mode, my lights would often get stuck on objects near/behind me instead of where my target was. My decorations ended up looking like a 7 year old really did place them.
I only lasted around 45 minutes of gameplay, which was mostly just trial-and-error of making the controls work. I was really excited about this game, and it is very cute and cozy with a nice art style, but it's just completely unplayable for me personally. Ultimately, I've requested a refund. If the issues I had are addressed in the future, I'd give it another go.

I want to like and play this game for more than an hour at a time, but the fixed camera is an absolute nightmare. It will just glitch into Bean sometimes. It will get stuck in walls. The game will get confused inside houses and you can't decorate inside them period cause the game will think you're trying to decorate the front wall. Parkour is the worst because of both the camera and how Bean controls. She has to be facing you the whole time during the whole game making it a huge issue when trying to climb things.
This game is cute, but the bugs just make it borderline impossible to play.

Man I really realllllllly wanted to love this game. I loved the demo so much. But in the full release a few things just kept holding me back.
I feel like the movement for Bean is awkward. Whether it's first person, third person or cinematic it feels very difficult to get them to move or aim where I would like.
The coin economy in the game needs to go. This is supposed to be a cosy game about Christmas decorations. I don't want to be platforming to be able to unlock the decorations I need.
I really did want to like this. I was hoping it would be my go to Christmas game this season but sadly it was not to be. I hope with some fixes and updates I will be able to come back to this next year instead.

to sum it up after an hour and a half of playing, it feels very... empty despite the concept being incredibly wholesome. putting up the lights gets old when there's a lack of reward for doing so.
it's also NOT worth $17.15 CAD on sale, definitely not almost $20 full price. if you love cozy and simple games, this is for you, but do not buy it at this price.

I wish there was an in between for recommendations for games. Because if you can deal with silly, unncessary parkour then sure absolutely get the game and give a go! but if that's something you struggle with, like me, and isn't something you look for in whats supposed to be an easy, casual, fun cozy game, you might want to give it a miss.
I really want to love this game in its entirety. And for the most part, it's exactly what it says - a cozy sim where you go around decorating the town. But I had to give up playing it because it's not just a cozy game. If you want to get more decorations you need coins, okay fair enough. But it's so much hassle and frustration trying to get the coins! Parkour that doesn't work properly, trampolines that don't bounce you high enough, one house I didn't even know how to get up because the map boundary stops you getting past and there was no trampoline and I couldn't get on the tree like at another house! There's also very few coins to get new things. So you go through a lot of the map already before even having half the available decor items and it's not clear that the coins return in select locations.
Overall, mostly because of the parkour mechanics which are completely unnecessary in a cozy game, I had to give up playing because I simply couldn't continue levels without getting frustrated that I couldn't get up to get coins or to decorate higher windows etc.
If they change the parkour, e.g. put in ladders and/or trampolines that actually bounce high enough for easy access to high up places, then I would absolutely love to continue playing and would amend my review! Unfortunately, I don't play cozy cute games to deal with finicky parkour that, for me, take the cozy and cute away from what is supposed to be the core of the gameplay.
