A Game About Feeding A Black HoleA Game About Feeding A Black Hole
I blame the school system. Celestial bodies don't behave like that. Also, it's not a card driven turn based roguelike, so what's up with that?

I watched a few of the developer's videos on the development of this game up to release. I'm happy he found success, but unfortunately it seems the 'game' has been engineered out of A Game About Feeding a Black Hole. He talks about streamlining and curating the player's experience to the second, but it has meant that the player basically has no agency at all, and while it is weird to say this about an incremental clicker game, it's effectively turned it into a walking simulator. Nothing in the first 20 minutes has led me to think there's any actual strategy or anything that changes the player interaction from just moving the mouse around the screen then buying the few upgrades that are affordable. Basically all upgrades just increase numbers, and don't provide interesting new abilities or automation mechanics, they're not even named interestingly to give some hint at some sort of narrative, as in a game like Universal Paperclip or The Gnorp Apalogue. I also didn't like the achievement pandering early on. Yes, I started the game and interacted with something, that is not worthy of an achievement. Pass on this one, there's many other more interesting incremental games available.

Misleading tags, not idler or clicker game and also no strategy because the skill tree upgrade forces you to progress in a certain order. Gameplay is super boring and I only got to 1.3 hours because I was playing while high as a kite

Fun simple survival game about giving sweet yum yums to a black hole

I was going to recommend it but they caved instantly to people whining about the *4* speed run achievements that the game had—only one of them was even slightly difficult—and removed them so now there's literally no challenge to the game at all. And the devs are spineless. So don't waste your money, go find a better incremental.

This genre is all about enjoying a semi automated animation with a fun upgrade tree to escalate. You will not find most of that here. Escalate? Yes, obviously. But it is on rails. You get a "tree", but you are NEVER in the situation that you have any choice on what to pick. You finish a run, select the 1 or (rarely) 2 upgrades that are available... then do the next run. Different paths are several orders of magnitute more expensive, so you can't even grind it out. One way. You like it, or you don't. Looks like a cheaply made AI game sadly.

Its cute, a sorta ok time waster, but it just doesn't feel satisfying. The tech tree, even tho its laid out branch style, is extremely linear due to its costs; you're expected to get the upgrades in a certain order, which causes gaps in what you would like to get. Like I wanted to focus more on electric asteroids early, or breaker size, but no, the game decides you've had enough and its time to increase the mass or go to planets. So now you don't feel like you can break anything again, it never lets you feel like you got a nice power spike, because then the costs and hp immediatly go up so you can't enjoy anything. The moons don't last nearly as long as they need to to feel satisfying, and theres no upgrade to increase the duration, so it just constantly feels like being edged the whole time. You can never get anything going.

"I'll just try this for a minute" turned into a 3.4 hr session and a completed normal mode. The black hole seems to have consumed time irl as well.

After 40 minutes of gaming, I realized, that the dark mode is in the options... and I thought that is indicate another game mode.
