i like the game but it mistakes frustration for difficulty, four bullet sponge rocket salvo enemies in four foot wide corridor with no cover isn't hard, it's a set-up.

According to EULA this game is literally a spyware. 1.) You are granting permission to install additional software without your knowledge to Prophecy Games. 2.) You are granting permission to scan everything you do, RAM, every program on your PC, everything. 3.) You are granting permission to install "Locked Software" on your PC at any time and any moment. Some services and content have been magically hidden under the term "Locked Software", but we have no knowledge what kind of software and software it is. So we can agree to install any type of software - even spyware or advertising.

First review - This is one game I actually got mad at when they closed the beta/demo. I was just finished upgrading my stuff after a great run. And it kicked us out. I was so damn salty all day yesterday. So here I am day one within the first 30 minutes grinding my life away.

The "Locked Software" which could be anything the developer wants it to be: 🔥 Why It’s Technically Possible for it to be a crypto miner: The clause allows Prophecy to install software you didn’t specifically ask for. You agree not to touch it unless you’re given a license — but they don’t promise what it actually is. There’s no limit to what kind of software this could be — it could be a texture pack, or it could be a resource-hungry executable running in the background. 🧱 Why This Is Risky: No Transparency: They never define what “Locked Software” is. That ambiguity is dangerous — anything from a future DLC to a hidden process could fall under this category. User Powerlessness: By agreeing, you surrender the right to audit, remove, or even know what the Locked Software does — until you’re licensed to use it. Meanwhile, it’s already installed. Malicious Precedent: If a company wanted to push a crypto miner, data harvester, or adware disguised as “locked content,” this kind of clause gives them legal cover. It's not common practice among reputable developers, but this clause could enable such behavior.

I was genuinely excited to dive into Deadzone Rogue. However, after just a few hours of gameplay, particularly in Adventure Mode which I bought the game specifically for, I’ve run into serious, repeatable bugs that make the game unplayable for anyone who can't finish a run in one sitting. Major Bugs Encountered: 1. Adventure Mode Save System is Broken When I save mid-run and return to the main menu during the same session, the "Continue" option appears and works. But once I close and relaunch the game, the “Continue” option disappears, even though a save file clearly exists. I am forced to start over from Level 1 every time I launch the game, which defeats the entire purpose of a mid-run save. 2. Difficulty Level Randomly Increases After Saving I selected a specific difficulty, for example Normal, at the start of my run. After saving and reloading, when “Continue” does work, the difficulty increases automatically to a higher level, like Hard, without warning. This breaks balance and causes inconsistent gameplay. 3. No Feedback or Reliability on Save Success The game gives no confirmation that your save was successful. There is no indication of where in the run you saved, no save slot management, and no backup. You only find out your progress is gone when you reload and it resets. Purchase Context: I bought the game expecting a functioning roguelike experience with proper save support in Adventure Mode. A core feature is broken, and nothing on the store page warns about this. Final Thoughts: Deadzone Rogue has potential. The atmosphere and combat are solid. But the technical issues are too serious to ignore. Until the save and load system in Adventure Mode is fixed, I cannot recommend this game to anyone who values consistent progression or wants to play in multiple sittings. If these issues are resolved soon, I’ll gladly revise my review. Verdict: Unplayable in its current state due to broken Adventure Mode save system. Wait for a fix before buying.

I don't trust these developers at all and after hearing of their history-- combined with being a branch from HiRez, I decided to pull my support back. The first two games Prophecy has launched (Starsiege Deadzone and Tribes 3 Rivals), they pulled support about a year later while the games were still in EA. While those that bought Starsiege Deadzone got a free copy of this game, the old game doesn't even fall in the same genre. Given Prophecy and the Studio they came from-- Hirez, has such an infamous history with releasing games into EA-- then pulling out of support for them for 1-2 years later. It feels predatory on consumers to hype up a game, release it into early access, rake in sales, then never carry it to its 1.0 release.

I was a former player of Starseige Deadzone which was their previous extraction shooter, I was excited to play and enjoy that game but there was constantly bad decisions on the devs part (and the community pressuring the devs to change things both are at fault for this) which drove the games playerbase into the dirt. They took alot of backer money from the previous game and fueled it into another game that just failed and this is basically a low effort asset flip of the previous game, various areas are reused from Starsiege same for enemies. I'm not recommending this game currently until the devs show they can put time and love into the game and not try to get another easy cash grab from being in Early Access, This is not a review bomb this is a literal warning to be wary of these developers, if you wanna play this make sure to get it on a sale do not pay full price. NOW For what I've seen gameplay wise, the bones are here for a good game. First Section of the game (the Who Am I) Stage is actually hard and challenging with good enemies and variations HOWEVER after that the game trickles into low effort brain dead combat, one section is just a straight up forced close combat only level where you can literally just melee to victory cause all the enemies just run up to you to die. 3rd part of Act 1 acts like it'll be solely sniper rifles and long range battles but is a weak copy paste of the first mission, I'm still going through it but after the Who am I quest the game hard stops being fun and ends up being so easy I got bored. (was playing at the hardest difficulty as well which basically just has the enemies do a bit more damage, no variations to enemies or AI upgrades just more damage so it looks artifically harder). Like I said though will change this review if the devs actually flesh this out into a proper game, and don't bother responding to this review devs, you've alienated your playerbase quite a bit already take the honest review of both the game and company at this moment in silence.

Please don't buy this game. It uses AI generated assets, and the devs are vague on what's AI and what isn't. It wasn't obvious to me, so I bought the game and now have too many hours to refund it. Don't support AI art. Don't buy this game until the devs replace the fake assets.

Good game at a good price, but can be frustrating with bugs and QoL. Recommendations: Add a reconnect feature Add an unstuck feature Add a stat summary section in inventory screen (crit %, elemental proc %, etc.)

If I was pressed for the big 3 of roguelikes, it would be Balatro, Hades, and this. Top 1 for first person shooters tbh.

This is not a crypto miner lmao. If it was... the PoW alone would suppress your gaming experience so hard you would think your pc is dying. Also... not profitable even if they made it so it was 1-2 threads and not all the threads on your machine. if it was utilized as a Node for PoS or any other Piece of Shit consensus mechanism, it would mean the game would have to be running 24/7 as uptime is the only way of being profitable in that arena. The top negative poster on this game is trying to sound like a authority figure but is obviously a moron as displayed by his understanding of "CrYpTo". Malware is another topic entirely though. But as for crypto/mining allegations, that shit is so unfounded and retarded it's hilarious.

Great game until i took a nap and came back to an update that stops the controller from fully working. The Y button doesn't work anymore. If you play mouse and keyboard great game though.

While the game does play well and was a bit of fun. I ended up being Zone 1 in just over a hour(there's 3 zones) it makes me question how much you can really get out of the game. My other major concern is the history of the developer abandoning previous titles. Mainly Tribes 3 which released in EA in April of 2024 and has not had a update since June of 2024. Not a fan of companies who don't finish previous titles. Refunded for the time being until the developer proves they are going to fully release the game. Be cautious if you plan to buy this.

I bought this game recently thinking it was looking like a solid gameplay loop for early access. Today they released the 'full' version and I can honestly say I'm incredibly disappointed in my purchase and with this developer. This game is chock full of potential with a solid base for a funky Doom-like universe, but instead the devs are pushing this janky product out and calling it complete. This game feels like it was made in a weekend for a gamejam and then never got any love after that, just slightly expanded upon. Unless the devs fix the jankiness and put some more polish on this product you should save your money.

Fun game to pass time, currently there are only 2 zones which you can get through on normal in about 10 hours 8.5/10 in it's current iteration Pros Runs well on Steamdeck Replayability is there (would like to see more levels to choose from) Bosses have mechanics Good gun and perk selections Skill tree Cons Feels like you're just starting to get strong when the boss fight happens, then you're done the run (the option to continue after beating the boss would be a huge plus) It is early access so there's lots of content that is locked, but looks like it will be available with progression

Valorant no longer works because of whatever other BS this game installs along with it, I have uninstalled and nothing works. Something fishy is going on with this and Vanguard does not like it. Can I just uninstall this mess FULLY? Do NOT install this game if you play Valorant!!

The gameplay and gunplay feel amazing, though with it being early access, there is not much incentive to continue playing the game once you beat all of zone 1 and 2 on hard mode as zone 3 isnt released yet. Expert/Nightmare mode give you nothing new, just more tech points to upgrade skill trees you can max out easily on hard. Game seems too easy at its current state and there isn't enough long term progression to tie you in to want to keep playing. Id say wait until some more content updates. Im not disappointed at the $25 dollar price I paid for it for how good the game feels, though I am disappointed with how quickly you can beat the game as a new player and got burnt out because there was nothing left to do.

the devs scam people played it so i can warn yall they made star siege deadzone i bought the founders edition for 100 bucks they then pulled a rugpull and took all the backers money to make tribes 3 which failed and now they asset flipped the old games assest into this dont pay them anything

Extremely suspicious EULA which basically states you do not own the game in addition to possible spyware. Game uses ai for both voice acting and certain images, which is not disclosed anywhere on the store page (as far as i'm aware).

It seems like a good and enjoyable FPS Rouge on the surface but a few design choices and technical issues were enough for me to be done with the game. Pros:
  • Rogue
  • Kinda like Borderlands but without Randy Pitchford gas lighting everyone
  • Friends can play with you
  • The MC sounds like a very confused and depressed Duke Nukem
Cons:
  • Short
  • Not a lot of depth
  • Mouse sensitivity mainly X axis is very sensitive
The game calling itself fast paced is like me calling my Nan fast paced when she falls down the stairs, I had assumed it would pick up the pace as the game went on but it never did. But do you know what did seem to increase? That horrible looking Neon ARK: Survival Evolved Tek Tier neon lights on everything UE slop and the the bosses becoming standard enemies. I have a play time of 55 minutes and in that time i managed to change settings, Try to figure out why my mouses X axis is way more sensitive, lock frame rate, Die once, restart, the game then hard locks me after clearing a room, restart, get to like round 16, hard lock again but this time i could hear the enemies but couldn't see them, Restart, Finish a run completely and then end up back at the hub to do upgrades. I personally do not want to go back to a hub world to do progressive upgrades at the end of a loop, you have at the end of every level a section to upgrade your weapons just use that for these progressive upgrades. Understand Early Access things will change, and I will come back once it leaves Early Access and is more than likely heavily discounted. I still recommend that you give it a go though as you may enjoy the things i didnt and you really should just make up your own mind
