This game claims to be a spiritual successor to the legendary Delta Force series from the '90s and early 2000s, and actually is. It delivers. Has some work to go but the early access tag should be self explanatory. Highly recommended for:
  • Anyone who still remembers what voxel graphics are
  • Millennials approaching mid-life crisis looking for purpose via long-range headshots
  • Anyone who got yelled at for tying up the phone line while downloading mods

The game's AI is garbage; they ALWAYS know where you are even at night and with silencers. Don't bother until they fix this.

DISCLAIMER: Super Early game-play review Man how do I describe the vibe this game gives me ? It's like it reminds me of an old 2000s pc fps but I cant pin down which one. Its a little ghost recon, a little Rainbowsix (the old good ones) , A little dash of the early arma games and top it off with the modern comforts that make a game enjoyable. I dove into this game knowing literally nothing about it and honestly I'm having fun. The AI seems a little silly sometimes but I found that the hard mode provided a reasonable challenge. Gun play is fun especially sniping, The drones are proving to be a favourite of mine as well. I honestly love how aiming down the scope just shows up on the side of the screen like picture in picture its a fun way to do things. I haven't noticed many bugs yet other than every now and then my gun will fire with no muzzle flash. I think the only thing that annoyed me was the opening helicopter rides for the tutorial and first mission arent skippable. Please fix. OH and maybe dont make me sit in the helicopter after every bloody retry ?! Just let me restart from the landing. OH and by the way you dont have to do every challenge in the tutorial section , just walk to the chopper and you finish the tutorial. I figured that out after the 3rd bloody challenge, I suffered a psychotic break from sheer boredom. Commander d**khead asked me to shoot three targets for the 40th time and I just snapped and ran for the chopper gibbering to myself incoherently. I guess they felt sorry for me because they let me continue with the game. Thats all for now will update when I've spent more time with it.

It's enjoyable, but it's not quite there yet in my opinion. Some of the other reviews seem to be referencing the classic game Delta Force, which I've never played, so maybe I just don't 'get it'. The game is beautiful, I love the art style and aesthetic. There are lots of nice little touches like the sound (and visuals) of bullet casings dropping out after you fire. The way enemies are naturally camouflaged by the large amounts of grass is fantastic, and long-range combat is really enjoyable. I really like that you can use the range finder to quickly gauge the distance of the enemy, and then have to manually adjust the scope. The inventory system and modular weapons are also excellent. In contrast, the short range combat feels really lacking, and it's a shame that they chose not to implement 'iron sights'. I'm guessing this may be to make it closer to the feel of 'Delta Force' or other retro games, but I found that it made short range combat quite clunky. Another gripe is that the only way to check the ammo in the magazine is to press tab and hover over the inventory. I would highly recommend implementing a system like Ready or Not where you can hold R and it just pops up "Empty / Light / Full" etc for a second or two to give you an idea of where you're at. World wise, it's very pretty, but so so empty! The ship doesn't have any NPCs, and for the tutorial you're dropped into a base which is again completely devoid of NPCs. This then turns into a very long winded target practice session. Do I really need to do 15 sets of target practice with each weapon? Bugs - Overlapping voice overs, especially right after the tutorial where it tells you to select a mission, and when doing so it will start to play the voice over for the tutorial, and the mission briefing. Achievements, "Start 'you' first mission", I also received the achievement for completing 5 missions after only completing 1. The Game Y mouse sensitivity is listed as "Menu Y", which does give me the impression that the game might have been slightly rushed to release. Not a bug, but a strange design choice. The voice overs seem to have some sort of radio crackle in the background, but the actual audio itself is not augmented at all, so it sounds like they are standing right next to you. Again, maybe I just don't get it. Maybe this is meant to be a homage to an older series of games. But that still wouldn't stop basic quality of life features and slight differences from the classics. It's an enjoyable game that's clearly made with love, but I feel it needs a bit.. more.

PiP scope, check! Enemy engagements over hundreds of meters that turn into one-hit-kill pixel hunts, check! Tube brained AI with eagle vision, check! OICW, check! After all these years, the real Delta Force is back on the menu! Now with complimentary drones.

A real throwback to the Novalogic games. I see alot of potential in this because of how much fun the later novalogic games were (and still are). Im a bit picky, and the reason i can't recommend this is because in my opinion the game is taking after the earlier Novalogic games (Delta Force 1, 2, TFD) rather than the later, better titles (DF: Black Hawk Down, DF Xtreme, etc). The game lacks first person weapon reload animations that the later DF games had. The game totes "modern mechanics" which to an extent i would agree, but you cannot drive vehicles like you could in the later DF titles. Also the art style they are going for, again in my opinion, is too pixalated. More reminiscent of the first DF games. Also, in its current state, the game is a big buggy mess. For now i will refund it, but I will keep my eye on this game and have it wishlisted to see what the future brings to the table, but for now, if you're a fan of the later novalogic games rather than the earlier ones i cant recommend it.

The SPIRIT of Delta Force is alive and still shooting! Quick disclaimer: I’m playing this in early access, so a few rough edges are to be expected. That said, I grew up playing every Delta Force game, from the very first one to Black Hawk Down. That series was my all-time favorite: give me a pixelated compass, a scoped rifle, and a vast terrain, and I was good for hours. Over time, FPS games shifted towards more cinematic, faster-paced, and flashier styles. Sure, some of that was great. But deep down, it left me wishing someone would pick up where Delta Force left off. This game? It just might be the one. It hits that nostalgic sweet spot, and fans of the old-school tactical shooters will feel right at home. Younger players, on the other hand, might bounce off its quirks. What works: The gameplay seems open-ended, with multiple approaches to objectives and a solid variety of weapons. You feel like you’re back in Task Force mode, but upgraded. - Gunplay feels satisfying. There’s a modest but enjoyable level of customization — scopes, LAM modules, suppressors, etc. - The addition of the OICW is a nice touch for us Delta Force: Land Warrior veterans. Instant respect. - The vibe is on point: gritty, focused, minimalist military action. Bravo team, mission accomplished. What doesn’t: - The AI is competent enough, but enemy spawns are repetitive. You’ll know the hotspots soon enough. - The classic “waypoint navigation” system is back and just as limiting as you remember. Tactical? Yes. Flexible? Not really. - The “retro-inspired” graphics, while charming, feel a bit too artificial and forced. It tries to emulate the old-school look, but ends up being harsh on the eyes. Some dynamic blur and less sharpness would go a long way especially on weapon textures, which could use more polish. TL;DR 🟢 Recommended for Delta Force veterans. 🟡 Might not click with modern FPS fans. 🔫 A return to the roots with all the good and the clunky bits included. ❤️ But for those who lived it... it hits hard.

As an old fan of Delta Force Land Warrior, I only have one simple request for this game going forward. Please go back to Delta Force Land Warrior, listen to the copious amounts of agonized, guttural death screams, gasping and gurgling that the enemies did in that game when shot, and please replicate that here. That's it. Some gore and dismemberment would be cool too but is not required. Kthnx.

Really good idea here but the AI makes it unfun as hell. There is no point of using silencers if you get instantly spotted and the AI knows where you are at all times, this only gets amplified at higher difficulty levels. The game also sometimes glitches and you need to restart the whole mission which takes around an hour to complete, it could also be a good idea for the devs to add some sort of a vehicle as half of the game feels like a walking sim. Other than that I recommend to keep an eye on this game as it could become a gem if the said issues are fixed.

Novalogic is that u?

As a long time Novalogic (Delta Force, Joint Ops Combined Arms) and old school Tom Clancy (R6, Ghost Recon) shooter enjoyer, my initial impression is that this game definitely presents an opportunity for those us that long for the days where a 7.62 to center mass would instantly end your career. The game is still in early access but I'm pleasantly surprised so far. There's definitely room for improvement but it's still solid enough for the price. My only complaints is that the inventory system is a bit clunky and hard to get accustomed to, the training mission is way too tedious, the sound design disappoints in a few areas (mainly suppressed weapons) and the player's left arm looks weird. Other than that, this is what I (and others) wanted from a game that seemed to be reimagining of what DF: Angel Falls was supposed to be.
